Hackable DEFCON Badge

DEFCON is the worlds largest annual hacker convention, and to prove just how hardcore they are, they handed out Press Badges with micro controllers and WIFI and opened the floor to see who could make it do the coolest things possible.

Here, Meredith Patterson shows off her hack where she tapped into one of the board's Analog-to-Digital converters, made it accept an audio input, and turned the front LEDs into a spectrum analyzer! If you don't think this is hard/cool, keep in mind that none of the hardware was designed for this and it was all completed in about 48 hours!!

The rap song is actually a poem written by the Badge's designer about the cool DEFCON badges, and is appropriately named "Badges". Through the social power of World of Warcraft, it turned out they knew a rapper (The Brothers Grim) who just happened to be in the studio and recorded a rap version of the poem.
